About this Module:
In this introductory module, Chris will talk about two important concepts which will help you spot ideas in questions, answer choices, and passages.
To improve your IELTS score, you will need to begin to think about information in passages, questions, and answer choices as made up of “parts”–doing so will help you notice incorrect relationships and limit the amount of time you spend reading passages.
Understanding the various ways in which the IELTS tries to hide information by “paraphrasing” ideas will also be critical for you to notice when ideas are ‘close enough’ in meaning.
You’ll also examine how the IELTS tries to trick you by using grammar and vocabulary to create “flips in logic”, where what seems like opposite statements are actually saying nearly the same thing.
To understand passages, questions and answer choices on the IELTS, you need to understand how the IELTS thinks about information–it is much more than knowing words and grammar, it is knowing how ideas are connected to each other.
This module will give you the foundation of how Chris views words and ideas when he answers questions related to IELTS passages.
